A five-year successful partnership that saw South Hook LNG become the first private sector company to link with Pembrokeshire Association of Voluntary Services (PAVS) in the support of its community funding activities, is entering its sixth year with renewed energy.
For more than a decade, South Hook LNG has been a strong supporter of charities, community initiatives and events across Pembrokeshire. The partnership with PAVS – the County’s independent third sector umbrella organisation – brought new levels of expertise and opportunities to engage with the wider community.
“We are pleased to be continuing our partnership with PAVS” commented South Hook LNG’s General Manager, Hamad Al Samra.
“By overseeing the application process, PAVS brings valuable experience to our Community Fund, helping to ensure that the financial support we offer is making a real difference to voluntary and community organisations across Pembrokeshire.”
All applications to the Community Fund are considered by a team of South Hook staff at four meetings throughout the year. Since the partnership began, significant numbers of community groups and initiatives across Pembrokeshire have received support of between five hundred and five thousand pounds.
From schemes that have supported defibrillators in rural communities and the development of youngsters in sport, to those that seek to combat social isolation and mental ill health, numerous people have benefited from the support and the relationship with PAVS demonstrates South Hook’s continued commitment to investing in the community.
Commenting on the relationship with South Hook LNG, PAVS’ Chief Officer Sue Leonard said “It is a great experience for us to work with staff members at the Terminal in awarding and monitoring the grants, which deliver real benefits for communities across the whole County. Our partnership with South Hook LNG is a fantastic example of what can be achieved when the private sector works with the third sector for the benefit of local people and communities. I am delighted that our partnership is set to continue, and look forward to working with South Hook LNG in the years to come.”
